Making that call to us is crucial in an emergency situation, but more importantly there are some steps you can take to help with you pain while you’re waiting for your appointment to see the emergency dentist.

Toothache;

gently clean the pain area with a soft bristle toothbrush, and rinse your mouth with warm salt water.

Facial swelling;

apply a cold compress to the swelling to help with the pain, and take ibuprofen for more relief if necessary.

Knocked out tooth;

call for an emergency appointment immediately as the first hour is critical for any chance of a re-implantation of the tooth. Gently rinse the tooth (no scrubbing), and either place it between your gums and cheek, or wrap it in a clean cloth that has been soaked in saline solution or milk.

Chipped tooth;

put the broken piece in a moist cloth, and rinse your mouth with warm water, and keep clean

Soft tissue injury;

if bleeding, then try to stop it by applying firm pressure on the injury with a clean cloth. If no bleeding, then clean the area with a clean cloth and warm water, and apply a cold compress.
